Refund Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2025

Fair Repair aims to provide honest, quality repair services. This policy outlines how we handle refund and warranty claims when a service does not meet the expected standard. We operate in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) and applicable Canadian consumer protection regulations.

1. Our Commitment

We stand behind our work. If a repair we performed fails due to a defect in our workmanship within the warranty period, we will correct it at no additional charge. Our goal is to resolve issues fairly and transparently, without requiring customers to navigate complicated processes.

2. Warranty Period

All completed repairs carry a 90-day labour warranty from the date of collection. This warranty covers defects directly attributable to our workmanship โ€” for example, a component that was improperly seated, a connection that was not properly secured, or a part that we installed that was defective at the time of installation.

Parts supplied by Fair Repair may carry additional manufacturer or supplier warranties; where applicable, we will communicate these at the time of repair.

3. What the Warranty Covers

  • Failures of parts installed by Fair Repair within the warranty period, where the failure is not due to misuse, physical damage, or circumstances outside our control
  • Workmanship errors that become apparent after collection of the device
  • Situations where the repair did not address the diagnosed problem

4. What the Warranty Does Not Cover

  • Damage caused by physical impact, liquid exposure, power surges, or other external factors after collection
  • Problems unrelated to the original repair
  • Failures resulting from software installation or modification by the customer after the repair
  • Normal wear and tear on repaired or adjacent components
  • Devices that have been opened or modified by a third party after our repair
  • Pre-existing conditions disclosed at the time of the original repair

5. Diagnostic Fees

Diagnostic fees are charged for the assessment process itself and are non-refundable once the diagnostic has been completed, regardless of whether you proceed with a repair. This is because the diagnostic service โ€” the technician's time, expertise, and equipment โ€” has been provided at the point of assessment completion.

If you authorise a repair and later decide not to proceed before any work has begun, the diagnostic fee remains payable but no further charges will apply.

6. Cancelled Repairs

If you authorise a repair and then cancel before work commences, no labour charge will apply beyond the diagnostic fee. If parts have already been ordered specifically for your repair at the time of cancellation, you may be responsible for reasonable restocking or return costs associated with those parts.

Once a repair is underway, cancellation may incur partial charges for work already completed and materials already used. We will discuss this with you transparently in any such situation.

7. How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you believe your repair qualifies for a warranty claim, please contact us within the warranty period:

  • By phone: +1 519-671-2145
  • By email: [email protected]
  • In person: 1065 Dundas St W, Mississauga, ON L5C 1C3

Please bring or reference your original receipt or service record number. We will assess the claim and, if it falls within warranty terms, arrange for the issue to be resolved promptly.

8. Refunds for Completed Repairs

Refunds for completed repairs are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If a repair was performed but did not resolve the diagnosed issue and the issue is attributable to our workmanship, we will first offer to redo the repair at no charge. If a satisfactory resolution cannot be reached, we will discuss refund options in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.

We do not issue refunds based on a customer's preference after a repair has been completed and accepted unless there is a documented fault with the work performed.

9. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) or other applicable Canadian consumer protection legislation. If you feel your rights have not been respected, you may contact the Ontario Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery or the Competition Bureau of Canada.
